(I’m not sure if this is the right way to put it.) Could some expert please explain the classification of DCS cards? Are there cards with HART protocol, regular cards, and cards with a bus connection? I’m not sure if this is the right way to put it 2. When field instruments with HART protocol are connected to SIS or AMS systems, is a HART-to-Others protocol converter required? What are the specifications of multiplexers? How many inputs can a multiplexer connect to? 3. How does SIS communicate with DCS or AMS? Sorry, just to add: we use Yokogawa’s system. I’m not sure if my question is appropriate; I hope experts can give me some feedback~~~
You’re absolutely right about the first point! I am using the JX-300X DCS product from Zhejiang University Zhongkong. To communicate with smart instruments, an SP244 card (communication card) is required. Its DCS cards generally include a main control card, a data forwarding card, analog input cards, analog output cards, digital input cards, digital output cards, and communication cards, among others.
1. That’s absolutely correct; modern DCS systems all come equipped with AMS software. If you want to acquire HART signals, then you should choose a card that has HART functionality； 2. If the system has cards with HART processing, then there is no need for a HART signal collector or a multiplexer. For systems like SIS/CCS that do not have HART cards, the data must be sent to the AMS server of the DCS through a HART signal collector and a multiplexer ； 3. See 2 ；
The key is to determine which manufacturer’s field instruments you are using; if they are from Yokogawa, then no HART card is needed. Nowadays, all systems need to support the HART protocol, with a few exceptions – in such cases, each situation must be analyzed on its own.
