Let’s discuss the division of responsibilities regarding the electrical and control aspects of electric valves Electric valves come in 220VAC and 380VAC versions. In our organization, instrument management has always been handled at 220VAC levels, while electrical management has been carried out at 380VAC levels. However, now the electrical department’s leaders suggest that all such tasks be handed over to the instrument department, as this would simplify management. Please share your opinions on this. Will handling 380VAC electrical equipment require an electrician’s license? Can a technician with a meter reading license handle such equipment? Please help me figure out whether this would constitute a violation of regulations.
Everyone advocates that electrical and instrumentation tasks should not be separated; instrument technicians also need to obtain a certification for safe operation of low-voltage electrical equipment. This is how our company manages things, and it’s great as it improves efficiency.
Motors and primary/secondary circuits: Electrical department is responsible; mechanical aspects are handled by the maintenance team; instruments with electronic components and feedback mechanisms are under the responsibility of that department

Electrical and instrumentation tasks are separated; they were divided back when the factory was established, and that has been the case for decades. There are many electricians, but now it is being considered to assign the task of operating 380VAC electric valves to instrumentation workers. Is that feasible? Will it violate any regulations? I hope everyone can help out.
Obviously, the electrical department is shirking its responsibilities; instruments deal with low-voltage electricity, so how can they handle high-voltage electricity?
Those who work with AC380V equipment must have an electrician’s license; a technician’s license is not sufficient to work with high-voltage electricity!
It is recommended that the two should be integrated properly, just as some companies do: senior instrument technicians should have intermediate electrical skills, while senior electricians should possess intermediate instrumentation expertise. This way, many issues related to division of labor can be avoided. But such talents are not easy to find.
When a company is small, electrical systems and instrumentation are not separated from each other; however, the connection between electrical systems and instrumentation is not as strong as that between instrumentation and the manufacturing processes. In most companies, voltages below 220V fall under the responsibility of the instrumentation department, while the electrical department is in charge of everything related to the power supply up to that point. For proper operation, these areas need to work together closely, without too clear boundaries – after all, if there’s a problem in one area, should they argue or work together to solve it? Generally, there are more electricians than instrument technicians in a company, as electricians are responsible for operating the power distribution room and switching electricity on and off, whereas instrument technicians do not have such responsibilities, so the difference is significant.
