The jacketed container features a pressure-free inner cylinder, while the jacket is under pressure; the inner cylinder is made of 0Cr18Ni9 and the jacket is made of Q235-B. There are three issues for which I need your advice: 1. Must the inner cylinder’s head (the part that is not under pressure) also be made of 0Cr18Ni9? 2. The requirement in the specifications for inspecting the fillet welds at the pipe connections isn’t as you might think. Look at the main heading 4.5.3.1 – it deals with the selection of non-destructive testing methods. In other words, it’s not necessary to inspect those fillet welds; however, if the drawings specify that inspection is required, then surface inspection can be chosen.
