Does anyone have pictures, diagrams, or on-site measurement images of using the shaft-lifting method to measure the clearance of bearing shells?
Lifting the shaft is generally used to check the settlement of the shaft! New bearing shells or those that have been in use for a short time can increase the shaft clearance! ! Generally, two dial indicators are used, one to measure the shaft and the other to measure the bearing housing!
Place two dial indicators, one on each side of the bearing; the closer they are to the bearings, the better. Lift the shaft and read the values on the indicators. Add the values from both sides and divide by 2 to determine the actual clearance at the center of the bearing. I hope this can help you.
