Is it possible to shorten a line in the same way as stretching it?

In CAD, can’t you just drag the ends of a line to lengthen it? Why can’t you drag it to shorten it? Is there still a way?
Click “Stretch”, then select all the lines that you want to lengthen or shorten, and adjust their length as needed
Sure, it’s the same process as stretching: first select the line, then click on one of the endpoints that you want to move; you can move it however you like. It’s possible to not only stretch it but also shorten it or change its direction.
