Recently, one of our composite towers has suffered severe corrosion, mainly pitting corrosion. The material used is 20#+06CR13AL. We would appreciate it if experts could help identify the causes. Thank you!
Can 0Cr13Al, as a ferritic stainless steel, suffer pitting? Isn’t pitting mainly caused by Cl ions in austenitic stainless steel environments?
The original poster should at least provide information on the operating conditions, such as temperature, medium, pressure, pressure difference across the tower, gas velocity, etc., so that we can take targeted actions!

The material needs to be understood, but the medium (whether it contains chloride ions or salts, as well as the water content) and operating conditions (temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc.) are also essential factors in analyzing the causes of corrosion. Please provide more details; just knowing the material alone is not enough to determine the cause
What is your composite tower used for? It’s not clear whether it’s meant for gas packaging or some other use; we have no idea what you plan to do. We can’t even start by referring to your discussions, haha.
