The seal oil circulation is poor; I’ve found that when the oil tank is filled to capacity or beyond the level of the return pipeline, circulation becomes inadequate. The experienced workers at the facility often order that the oil tank be filled to full capacity as soon as they start working, and this practice results in a continuous rise in the temperature of the mechanical seal. What’s going on here? Please analyze it.
Reply to 1# wufeng3g: Generally, it’s sufficient to fill the tank with oil up to a little over one-third of its capacity; at most, it should not exceed two-thirds. This is because as the shaft rotates, it naturally splashes the oil, which serves to provide lubrication and cooling. If the tank is filled to the brim, the oil will cover the shaft, and since the shaft continues to operate while heat cannot dissipate within the oil, this will inevitably lead to an increase in the temperature of the seal. The reason why experienced workers fill the oil tank right at the start of their shift is quite simple. It’s not unique to your workplace; I think this happens in many places. The main reason is laziness – the workers are worried that running out of oil might damage the bearings, so by filling the tank at the beginning of the shift, they don’t have to worry about a lack of oil even if they don’t check it during the shift. The only solution is to strengthen the management of process discipline and work discipline.
