It was designed to use John Crane mechanical seals, but for various reasons, it’s not possible to obtain them in time; therefore, domestic seals have to be used instead. However, the Americans are concerned about quality issues, as such problems have occurred before. I suggest installing the domestic seals first, while simultaneously ordering John Crane seals from the U.S., so that they can be replaced immediately if any problems arise with the domestic seals. In other words, the John Crane seals should be used as spares. Is this approach feasible? I’m worried whether they will fit properly. Thank you!

Many domestic mechanical seals are developed by copying imported ones; it is absolutely no problem to use domestic mechanical seals in place of imported ones. If the manufacturer, model, specifications, design, and materials of the domestic seals are suitable (and their price is lower than that of imported seals), their service life can often be longer than that of imported seals. ---------------Mainly, it can be used as long as the installation dimensions are the same as those of John Crane seals!

The quality of domestic mechanical seals is acceptable, and the maintenance costs are low; after switching to modular mechanical seals, the rotating and stationary rings can be replaced at a very low cost in case of another leakage
