Urgent help: What material can be used for extended periods in an alkaline solution with a temperature of 85 degrees and a sodium hydroxide concentration of 30% without being corroded?
Your question is a bit vague. 1. Which category would you like to use? Carbon steel? Stainless steel? Non-metal? Rubber? 2. Where will you use it? There are many alkali-resistant materials; carbon steel can be used as well
Reply to 2# seal979401773: We use 304 stainless steel, but we have found that it turns black over time, which causes contamination of our products. Our products need to remain free from contamination even when exposed to an alkaline solution with a concentration of 30% at 85 degrees Celsius.
Using a PVDF+FRP composite device can meet the owner’s requirements.
Nickel-based alloys (Incoloy, Monel)……can resist alkalis, but they are very expensive. I’m not sure if lining with plastic will work at such high temperatures; I also don’t know what type of equipment it is, or whether high requirements exist in terms of strength and toughness.
There is information stating that two-way stainless steel can withstand high temperatures and high-concentration alkaline solutions; does anyone know more details about this?
