Generally, water is used for pressurizing pressure guiding pipes; those with many welds need to be pressurized separately, at 1.5 times the design pressure of the pipe. The standards specify the use of pneumatic testing, but I have never seen it done in practice. During construction, pressure tests are always held for 10 minutes once stability is achieved, but this is not done in accordance with the specifications.
When conducting a pressure test with water, it is generally 1.5 times the design pressure; When using gas for pressure testing, the pressure is generally set at 1.15–1.2 times the design pressure; if the design specifies a particular test pressure, that value should be used for the testing.
