In our plant, the sludge collected at the sewage treatment station is mostly sent to the coking unit, but a considerable amount of it returns to the water during the coking process, eventually circulating within the system. Is there any effective way to deal with this?
The sludge from refineries is considered heavy contaminated oil and requires special treatment. Generally, it is first subjected to preliminary sedimentation and dehydration, after which it is heated with steam and treated with chemicals in a three-phase separation centrifuge. This approach allows for the recovery of most of the oil, while also reducing the operating costs and pressure on the entire production system.
Add chemicals, precipitate, filter, and form a cake. It’s relatively simple.
I’m not sure if this sludge can still be mixed into coal for use in brick factories to produce bricks; it would be better to burn off the oil first before processing it. I wonder if major refineries practice such a method
The “thermal extraction/dehydration” sludge treatment technique uses solvent oil at a certain temperature to effectively break down the hydration film at the oil-water-solid interface of the sludge, thereby enabling effective separation of the oil, water, and solid phases within the sludge. The water that is separated is sent to a wastewater treatment plant for further processing; the recovered oil is taken to an oil refinery for reprocessing. The non-sticky solids that are produced after drying, due to their certain calorific value, are sent to a captive power plant for reuse. A type of hazardous waste that is explicitly designated as such – oily sludge – is completely rendered harmless through treatment, thereby preventing any new pollution from being generated.
It seems that there isn’t any particularly good treatment technology available at the moment!

This is difficult to handle; the recovery of sludge has not yet been industrialized and is still in the experimental stage
After treatment, our plant’s waste oil is pumped into the coke tower to soak the coke, after the four-way connection in the coking process has been completed; the amount of waste oil to be used is determined based on the ash content of the coke. It not only saves costs associated with treating contaminated oil but also allows that oil to be mixed into coke and sold at a good price
Are there any better solutions?
The processing costs are low; if the cost is sufficient, I have mature technology available
