This post was last edited by adsl121 on 2010-7-12 01:10. This issue has been discussed many times on the forum. In older liquid sulfur degassing processes, liquid ammonia was commonly used. However, due to issues such as corrosion and scaling, which affect the heating efficiency of the steam coils and can cause blockages in the degassing system, quinoline is now generally used instead. By using quinoline, not only are the problems associated with the use of liquid ammonia resolved, but the amount required is also only about 10% of that.
This post was last edited by adsl121 on 2010-7-12 01:11. However, design institutes have been debating the toxicity of quinoline, arguing that its toxicity may have effects on the human body. Are there reasons in this regard?
This post was last edited by adsl121 on 2010-7-12 01:11. All chemicals are toxic (liquid ammonia is also toxic). But the amount is very small, and its impact can be ignored.
