A thrust bearing is one that bears the remaining axial thrust. Due to the pressure difference on both sides of the impeller, a balance drum is generally used on the high-pressure side to counteract part of the axial thrust, with the remaining small amount being absorbed by the thrust bearing shells. Our factory uses Kingsbury double-sided thrust bearings, which have two thrust surfaces, one primary and one secondary.
It balances out the thrust that has not been balanced by the balancing disc, thereby preventing excessive shaft displacement. Generally, the load on thrust bearings is around 10-20% of the total thrust. Understand it on my own from the book
