For a 40W/T delayed coking unit, is corrugated packing better or floating valve trays for the packing in the absorption tower of the stable absorption system?
Absorption towers do not require high separation efficiency; typically, the gas-liquid load is high and the operating pressure is above atmospheric pressure. The use of trays may result in high initial investment, and energy consumption during operation is also a concern, so their use is not recommended. Bulk packing is usually considered; in addition, some units also use corrugated plate packing (less frequently).
