Business News, July 16: Upon entering the construction site of Mudanjiang Rida Chemical Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 10,000 tons of resin and caustic soda on July 16, it was seen that workers were carrying out further adjustments to equipment such as filter presses, coolers, and cracking furnaces. 　　Mudanjiang Rida Chemical Co., Ltd. is affiliated with China Tianhua Chemical Group. The \"Double 16\" project for the production of 100,000 tons of resin and caustic soda, funded and constructed by this company, is located in the northern area of Mudanjiang’s Economic Development Zone for trade with Russia. The project will focus on producing 160,000 tons of resin and 160,000 tons of caustic soda per year, with the construction of a facility for producing 200,000 tons of calcium carbide to go hand in hand with it. As a landmark project for the city’s development of the coal chemical industry and an important part of its coal chemical industry chain, the “Double 16” project for producing 10,000 tons of resin and caustic soda involves a total investment of 1.76 billion yuan. Of this amount, 1.4 billion yuan is allocated to the production of 10,000 tons of resin and caustic soda, while 360 million yuan is invested in the project for producing 200,000 tons of calcium carbide. With the smooth progress of various construction projects, the \"Double 16\" project involving 100,000 tons of resin and caustic soda is expected to complete its preliminary preparations and start construction in September this year. The civil engineering work and equipment installation and commissioning for the 200,000-ton calcium carbide project have been largely completed. 　　“The 160,000-ton resin and caustic soda project saw an investment of 230 million yuan in 2009; this year, another investment of over 100 million yuan will be made. The entire project is expected to go into operation officially by December 2012. Once completed, it will become the largest calcium carbide production base in the three provinces of Northeast China, as well as the largest resin and caustic soda production base in Heilongjiang Province and the second-largest such base in the three provinces of Northeast China. It is projected to generate annual sales revenue of 2.58 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 650 million yuan. At the same time, as the projects continue to improve and mature, our city can make full use of the raw materials it possesses, such as calcium carbide and resins, to move forward into downstream products and develop new industries and products with higher added value.
