What should be done before assembling SKF bearings? Clean with kerosene, then rotate it and listen for sounds to determine the axial and radial clearance? ? I wonder how everyone does it?
I’m waiting for an answer. By the way, I’m curious to know through what channels people currently purchase SKF bearings, and how to identify genuine SKF bearings.
Bearings with double sides cannot be cleaned with kerosene. Assembling SKF bearings is simple – just open the package and proceed with the assembly; be careful not to dirty the bearings.

Reply to 4# hhbth: Simple ways to identify genuine SKF bearings. 1. First, check the outer packaging of the bearing; generally, it has white text on a blue background with a red strip at the bottom. However, the products from the past two years include flower boxes with patterns of several SKF logos. 2. Check the production date of the bearing; if you open the packaging box of the bearing from the side, the production date and date code will be indicated on it. 3. Bearings produced after 2000 have barcodes on their packaging boxes. 4. Check the bearing model; the bearing models have suffix letters such as A, B, C, D, E, etc. These letters represent different years of production, and detailed information can be found in the attached table. 5. Pay attention to the SKF font on the trademark: the ‘S’ is narrow at the top and wider at the bottom, and there are indentations on the vertical strokes on the left side of the ‘K’ and ‘F’. 6. Check the steel stamp: The letters indicating the model and place of origin on SKF bearings can be either pickled or laser-processed. It feels smoother to the touch, and the text on fake bearings is usually engraved. 7. SKF bearings are recommended to be installed without cleaning. Of course, secondary pollution is an exception. In the past, most bearings used were domestic, but now most bearings are imported brands such as SKF and NSK; as a result, the measurements and adjustments of axial and radial clearances that used to be carried out as required seem to have decreased. Measurements and inspections are still done, but I personally have never had to make any adjustments for SKF or NSK bearings – this shows the high standard of quality maintained by these leading bearing manufacturers. I once discussed the issue of bearings with the deputy chief engineer in charge of mechanical equipment at my company. He said that out of 3,000 bearing manufacturers across the country, only 3 meet SKF’s manufacturing and inspection standards; of course, he didn’t need to provide any authoritative evidence to back up his claim. There may be an element of exaggeration, but it shows from another perspective that there is a certain gap between domestic bearings and imported bearings, and this is an undeniable fact based on everyday use.
