We are planning to upgrade the air intake for two heating furnaces, by installing a combined air preheater. I would like to ask for advice on how to select the appropriate model and size of the unit, as well as on how to determine the diameter of the flue.
Reply 1# xuht: Provide the flue gas flow rate, inlet and outlet temperatures, as well as the combustion air flow rate and inlet temperature to the preheater manufacturer, who will then carry out the design. The pressure drops on the flue gas side and the air side of the waste heat recovery system, as well as the flow rates of the flue gas and air, are calculated and provided to the fan manufacturer, who then uses this information for design purposes or refers to the specifications of certain fan manufacturers when selecting the appropriate model. The flue diameter is calculated based on the amount of flue gas and the flue gas flow velocity.
