Now I have come across a quench cooler, but I don’t know what is the difference between it and an ordinary heat exchanger?
A quench cooler is similar to an ordinary heat exchanger. Not much difference
The essence of a quench cooler is a heat exchanger, which allows materials to exchange energy. The biggest difference is that the quench air cools down the temperature of the material to be cooled in a very short period of time.
The quench cooler of the ethylene unit is in direct contact with the process materials and water vapor. Ordinary heat exchangers are indirect heat exchangers.
