I am currently studying flowcharts drawn by others, and there are some issues I’m not quite clear about. Please help answer them at your convenience. Thank you very much! ! When unloading oil from a tanker, is it necessary to remove the heavy oil that remains in the pipelines from the previous unloading operation? Is this referred to as the pipeline emptying line in the flow diagram? After pumping out the heavy oil from the pipeline, is it still necessary to fill the pipeline with heavy oil? What is called the ship unloading pipeline fill line in a flowchart? What are these two lines for? What is the purpose?
To prevent heavy oil from solidifying in the pipelines and thus getting stuck there, it is common to use light diesel to push the heavy oil out of the pipelines
Our company generally does not evacuate the heavy oil from the pipelines; they are used for their specific purpose. Before each operation, the pipelines are filled with oil using a pump, and when not in use, steam heating is employed. A pressure relief valve is installed near the tank to prevent excessive pressure buildup in the pipelines. After the operation on another pipeline is completed, a ball is used to clean the pipeline, allowing the heavy oil inside it to be sent back into the tank or ship.
