Recent choices faced

I used to work in a certain process, but the colleagues there all had a lot of experience; moreover, both the supervisors in that process and I were former colleagues, and most of them were locals. Later, an opportunity arose and our minister asked me to choose another department to work in; I went there because I wanted to learn more. Most of the colleagues in that department had just graduated from school, and that department had better prospects for development. But when I arrived, our deputy minister told me that I should be assigned to Team A, as the team leader was about to get promoted, and he said that if I performed well, he would let me take his place. Instead, I worked extremely hard (of course, I’m usually a person who works hard; this opportunity just made me work even harder**). I managed to complete the work with half the number of people as in other teams. And after we got the production line running properly, I was told that it wasn’t I who would go to the front line to handle things, but rather someone else – which made me very angry, and I wanted to argue with my supervisor. Actually, when I first started working in this process, I intended to learn one skill and then move on to another once I had mastered it; by learning more skills, I would have more options whether I decided to leave or stay. Moreover, I took a lower salary to work in this process. What I’m thinking now is to go to that position and learn there, after all, I’ve only been working on this process for a few months. I want to share my thoughts with my supervisor, so that he knows I’m eager to learn and work hard, but at the same time I want him to realize that I deserve something in return; he shouldn’t take advantage of me when there are opportunities available. We young people need to see hope in order to find it interesting to work hard, but it’s really disheartening when the promises you make to me aren’t kept.
