The Atlas air compressors (water-cooled) in our facility have oil that has become emulsified, and it’s completely emulsified. How can we clean it thoroughly? Additionally, the two different grades of oil along with the coking cleaner were mixed together before emulsification and the system was operated for about 30 minutes; a slight leakage was detected in the oil cooler during a preliminary inspection. Is it possible that it’s due to the cleaning agents and the mixed oils? ? ?

Oil emulsification is of course related to your detergent and the oil mixture. First, drain the emulsified oil, treat the oil cooler to prevent cooling water from entering the oil circuit, and ensure that the oil cooler is in good condition. Then replace the oil in your system several more times (by running the auxiliary pump), and then add proper oil. If you’re worried, you can get it tested and analyzed.
What was said upstairs is already quite comprehensive, but I personally think it’s necessary to first identify the root cause of emulsification, and address it at its source by changing the oil.
Regarding oil emulsification, the common issue is a problem with the oil cooler; therefore, it is necessary to first check whether there are any faults or leaks in the oil cooler. As for the coking cleaner you mentioned, if its use is permitted by the authorities, it is due to considerations regarding contamination of the oil; it should not be used rashly. Were the first two different grades of oil along with the coking cleaner mixed together before emulsification, and then the machine was run for about 30 minutes? It’s two different grades of oil; that’s not mixing oils!
