Pressure vessels are often equipped with safety valves to prevent overpressure； Is there also a valve to prevent the equipment from having too low negative pressure? For example, in a steam buffer tank, the pressure is normally positive; but after the equipment stops operating, the steam condenses, resulting in a very low negative pressure inside the tank. Hehe! If it exists, what is the scientific name of this type of valve?
It should be called a vacuum breaker or vacuum release valve. A vacuum breaker (vacuum relief valve) is designed to effectively counteract pipeline components that may be damaged due to vacuum conditions in equipment systems. In steam heat exchange equipment systems, after the steam supply is stopped, the steam inside the equipment condenses, creating a vacuum that causes the condensed water in the piping system to be siphoned back into the equipment. This can lead to damage to the equipment and certain heat exchange components within the system due to water hammer effects. A vacuum breaker can be activated automatically when the vacuum level inside the equipment reaches a certain value; it introduces air or another fluid to eliminate the vacuum, thereby protecting the equipment and the system. When the device is operating properly, it seals tightly with no fluid leakage.
