I’m new to CAD and don’t quite understand the letters used in it. For example, what do codes like 203-MC, 201-MJ, and 204MJ/MJA mean? How can I find out their meanings?

This code indeed represents the device identifier. Although different people use various naming conventions, it generally includes elements such as the project code, device type, and device sequence number. For example, 203-MC: 203 may denote the area, M represents the device type, and C indicates the sequence number within that device type. There are also codes like 204MJ/MJA; 204MJ/MJB might represent two identical devices, one used and one as a backup. Among these, the project codes and the order of the equipment can vary quite a bit from one case to another, but the equipment type codes are generally the same, as follows: Equipment Type – Tower, Reactor, Heat Exchanger, Pump, Compressor, Container, Weighing Equipment, Other Machinery. It doesn’t seem like it belongs to the chemical industry, does it? The chemical engineering category is Equipment type + Section + Serial number + (ABCDEFG, etc.)
