We currently need to treat industrial wastewater using activated carbon. Are there any experts in process design for this purpose?
The use of activated carbon for treating industrial wastewater isn’t yet very mature, right?
Is it intended to be designed as biochar? A carbon filter or a filter cartridge? For the former, one can check Siemens’ references on the PACT process ； The latter can be calculated using parameters such as filtration rate and adsorption capacity.
Treat wastewater with activated carbon? You had better consider biochemical methods
Activated carbon can only be used for the pretreatment of industrial wastewater – that is, it is applied in the advanced treatment of water, namely for reusing treated water. As for how to design it, it depends on the requirements for the quality of the recycled water.
Use macroporous adsorption resins; they are widely applied, and mature production processes already exist!

It is generally used in the advanced treatment stage of reclaimed water – more precisely, it serves as an auxiliary water purification technique. Different types of activated carbon are selected depending on the needs, such as reducing indigestible COD (SS) and achieving color removal. Factors to consider in the design include: activated carbon adsorption capacity, selectivity, residence time in the adsorption tower, whether it will be regenerated (regeneration methods), pressure drop, etc. Options for obtaining the process include: design institutes, developing the process through own experiments, or having activated carbon suppliers assist in determining the process
