Our compressors use three-stage compressors manufactured by Jianghan No.3 Machinery Factory, and the valves connecting the compressor’s inlet and outlet are cylinder-type ball valves. May I ask whether these two valves should be of the FO or FC type?
It should be FC; for safety reasons, in the event of an accident, the compressor needs to be shut down urgently, and FC should be used for that purpose.
If valve FC is triggered due to issues with the air supply, and the compressor has not yet stopped, could this cause the compressor to draw air out of some tanks? For example, imported separators or buffer tanks and things like that. Should the valve FC interlock the compressor shutdown?
This post was last edited by hgkklzp on 2010-7-30 at 15:47. It won’t get deflated; in the compressors I’ve seen that have pneumatic valves, there is always a backup air bag. This backup air can sustain operation for half an hour. If the instrument air supply is cut off, it’s possible to switch to manual mode. I’m not sure whether the pneumatic valve of the compressor mentioned by the original poster has a backup air bag. If not, I can suggest adding it. Furthermore, alarms are installed for low pressure at the primary inlet of the compressor, so you can detect a sudden drop in pressure. In fact, after the instrument air is interrupted, its load regulator will operate at zero load, so the phenomenon mentioned by the original poster does not occur.

The inlet and outlet pneumatic valves of our reciprocating compressors are of the FC type; there is only one relief valve at the outlet, and that one is of the FO type.
Yes, I agree with what was said above: for control purposes, FO is used for imports and exports, while FC is used instead
It should be FC; if there is a concern about suction, add FO between the inlet and outlet, similar to a check valve.
