Use of safety barriers

I would like to ask: Must the signal travel from the field to the control room through a safety barrier? If not, in what situations is it not necessary to use a safety barrier? Is a safety barrier required when the field instruments are intrinsically safe?
If the site is a hazardous area and the field instruments used there are intrinsically safe instruments, a safety barrier must be installed. If the site is a safe area and there are no requirements regarding the explosion-proof rating of the primary instruments, then it is not necessary to install safety barriers. If flameproof instruments are used, there is no need to install a safety barrier anymore.
In simple terms, a safety barrier is used only with intrinsically safe instruments. Explosion-proof instruments do not use safety barriers.
In the explosion-proof zones designated for safety-related applications, intrinsically safe instruments require the use of safety barriers.
