How long can a water pump keep working?

I would like to ask: for ordinary chilled water pumps, if the level of liquid in the water cooling tower is almost zero and the pump only handles a few cubic meters of water per unit time, how long can such a pump continue to operate?
Idling for 10 minutes? Who has ever encountered that?
Reply to 2# 525h: Even a regular water pump, when running idle, cannot operate for such a long time; you can refer to the instructions provided by the relevant pump manufacturers. Idle operation of the water pump causes severe damage to components such as the packing and mechanical seal!
If there is no liquid level left, the pump must be stopped immediately; otherwise it will get damaged. The liquid level interlock we have set stops the pump when the liquid level falls below a certain value.
Regardless of the type of water pump, running it without load can cause significant damage; therefore, interlocks should be in place to minimize such operation as much as possible
As long as no air is allowed in and the outlet valve is closed, there should be no problem, right?
