I would like to use a ceramic membrane with a pore size corresponding to a molecular weight of around 10,000. Someone who consulted Kyogo Company said that it’s not possible to achieve a molecular weight of around 10,000 with ceramic membranes (this is the case for manufacturers both at home and abroad); an organic membrane is required instead. Ceramic membranes can achieve a minimum molecular weight of 300,000, which corresponds to 0.05 μm. Therefore, I would like to ask those with experience for advice. Thank you.

I don’t know which person the original poster is referring to with “the people from Kyuugo Company”; (I am from Kyuugo) and it’s irresponsible of them to speak in such a manner. Ceramic membranes with a molecular weight of 10,000 can be used; the smallest ceramic membranes I’ve used abroad have a cutting molecular weight of 1,000. The gel method can be used, but the wear resistance of the gel layer is somewhat poor; there are requirements regarding the hardness of the particles in the material!
The pore size of ceramic membranes needs to be this small; there are products available abroad, but I haven’t heard of them being used on a large scale. Kuugo’s ceramic membrane with a small pore size is now available as well; it has a molecular weight cutoff of around 10,000 and can be tried out.
