The acid water used in the process cannot overcome the pressure in the stripping tower; the pressure difference in that tower is quite high, usually around 3-5 KPa, but it was around 25 KPa at that time. I checked the gas flow at the top of the tower and found no issues, and there were no significant fluctuations in the steam flow either. The processing capacity increased, but adding more steam didn’t help much. We use single-tower stripping; let’s discuss what the reasons for this are

When the full-load threshold is reached, continuing to increase the processing volume causes the pressure difference to increase more rapidly ; 2. Excessive gas-phase load. 3. The downcomer is blocked. 4. Decrease in gas flow rate, such as a reduction in the amount of material withdrawn from the top of the tower or an increase in the feed rate to the tower without a corresponding increase in the withdrawal rate. 5. Our stripping tower is a packed tower; I wondered whether the acidic water was too dirty and had blocked the packing. The differential pressure gauge was fine, and I immediately checked it
1. It is recommended to reduce the load on the stripping tower and monitor the changes in pressure difference. 2. It is suggested to take samples of the raw water fed into the tower as well as the purified water at the bottom of the tower to check for impurities in these waters; also, inspect the filters at various points in the system to check for impurities. 3. It is advisable to review the design data to determine whether there are any discrepancies between the operating parameters and the raw material parameters specified in the design. If the packing is blocked, removing it and using steam to treat the tower can help resolve the issue to some extent; however, if it’s something like coke powder, manual cleaning will be necessary
Today I carefully analyzed the curves from that day and found that the processing scale was too large; the acidic liquid returned directly from the top of the tower to the extremely cold section, not because it couldn’t be forced through. After the acidic liquid was directed to the appropriate location, the liquid level in the tank dropped rapidly! However, at the same time I suspect that there is a problem inside the stripping tower, and the processing capacity does not reach the designed value!
Severe coking occurs in the stripping tower, especially in the packing section.
Reply to 7# lhcj2009: It might exist in other units, but here the acid water consists of only sulfur-containing wastewater
