We use the sodium sulfide precipitation method: the wastewater is sent to a mixing tank containing sodium sulfide for reaction, then flows over into a wastewater tank. After circulating for a certain period of time and passing quality checks, it can be used in acetylene production.
What is your PVC production volume? What is the approximate amount of wastewater generated, and what is the total amount of treated wastewater? Is the water that is produced reused in the production process?
Our annual production is 200,000 tons, so the amount of wastewater generated isn’t very large; it mainly comes from leaks in the converters, as well as the waste alkali solution resulting from alkali replacement. There are about 200 cubic meters per month; the treated wastewater, after being processed in the acetylene slurry system, can be recycled and used in the generator.
Can sodium sulfide precipitation remove mercury from wastewater to 5 ppb levels? I heard it’s quite difficult. Has anyone tried it and can give an idea of how much can be achieved?
The end result is that the mercury-containing substances end up in the calcium carbide slag slurry, or in other words, the calcium carbide slag. Could you tell me what happens to that calcium carbide slag? lol
