Toluene belongs to Category A, while styrene belongs to Category B; storage is generally carried out using fixed-roof tanks with nitrogen blanketing; Occupational health and safety regulations explicitly require the installation of cooling facilities.
I agree with yaojj2007’s view. Our oil depot has 6 styrene-insulated storage tanks. Our processing procedure involves performing cold circulation on these tanks (this is done when the weather temperature is above 30 degrees); when the temperature is below 30 degrees, we carry out routine operations on the contents of the tanks once a day. The optimal storage period for styrene is 3 months – it should not be stored for an extended time. The storage temperature for styrene should not exceed 20 degrees, and the temperature inside the tanks should not go above 30 degrees. Styrene materials with a concentration above 30 tend to polymerize; I hope this provides some insight for you!

My company produces styrene, and the recommended storage and transportation temperature for styrene is between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius; exceeding this range can lead to polymerization or excessive levels of polymers. To keep the temperature below 15 degrees, our process involves cooling the storage tank through a heat exchanger built into it, with ethylene glycol-cooled water as the cooling medium.
