We have an absorption tower here, and under normal conditions the liquid level in this tower fluctuates by 10% up and down (due to fluctuations in the flow rate of the liquid entering the tower via the overflow line). Normally, the outlet flow rate of the pump used to transfer the liquid at the bottom of the tower also fluctuates. If the liquid level in the tower suddenly stops fluctuating and becomes stable, I notice that the outlet flow rate of the pump also stops fluctuating. What could be the reason for this?
The tower liquid level is controlled by the bottom transfer pump; when there are fluctuations in the liquid feed to the tower, the flow rate of the pump also changes accordingly to adjust the liquid level in the tower bottom. If the feed is stable, the flow rate of the bottom transfer pump will also be stable, and the liquid level will remain stable as well.
Reply to 2# Wanfeng123: My pump is controlled by frequency conversion, and the frequency control of the pump is done manually; the liquid level in the tower isn’t set to automatic mode. In this situation, are the fluctuations in the pump’s outlet flow related to the fluctuations in the tower’s liquid level as well?
There will be certain fluctuations in flow rate while the pump is in operation; under normal conditions these fluctuations are minimal, and therefore there are also no fluctuations in the pump’s performance
