First, it is necessary to understand the purpose of solution treatment, which is nothing other than to improve the corrosion resistance of the head, particularly its ability to resist intergranular corrosion. For austenitic stainless steels, the final temperature after heat treatment should be maintained above 850°C; rapid cooling is required after processing (such as by forced air or water spray cooling). If the material is to undergo tests for intergranular corrosion susceptibility, an evaluation must be conducted again after heat treatment ; If it does not meet the requirements of the intergranular corrosion test after heat treatment, solution treatment or stabilization treatment should be carried out.
Spin-formed heads experience work hardening and can develop transformed martensite, leading to stress corrosion in a hydrogen sulfide environment; annealing is recommended
