Could some expert please guide me on the procedure for starting the pump?

Open the inlet valve of the pump and open the vent valve to release air. 3. Start the motor and open the pump outlet valve.

Taking a centrifugal pump as an example, the steps for starting a centrifugal pump are as follows: (I) Preparatory work before starting (1) Carefully check whether the inlet and outlet pipelines, valves, flanges, and pressure gauge connections of the pump are installed safely and in accordance with requirements; ensure that the cooling water flow is unobstructed, and verify that the anchor bolts and other connection parts are not loose. (2) Add lubricating oil to the bearing housing, with the oil level at two-thirds of the level indicated by the gauge in the bearing housing. (3) Rotate the pump to check whether the rotor moves smoothly and freely, and listen for any sounds of metal impact or friction inside the pump. (4) Install the protective cover for the backrest wheel; it is strictly prohibited for the cover to come into contact with the backrest wheel. (5) Clean the pump housing base and maintain good hygiene. (6) Open the inlet valve to fill the pump with liquid, open the vent valve to release all air, and then close it. In the case of a hot oil pump, it is not allowed to open an air vent to release air, in order to prevent the hot oil from escaping and catching fire; if there are dedicated vent lines and oil tanks, air and cold oil can be released through those vent lines. (7) The hot oil pump should be preheated slowly before starting; especially in winter, both the pump body and the pipes should be preheated so that the temperature difference between the pump body and the medium being transported remains below 50°C. (8) The seal oil must be thoroughly dehydrated before being introduced into the oil pump. (II) Starting of the centrifugal pump: (1) Open the inlet valve of the pump fully and close the outlet valve fully; start the motor and thoroughly check the operation of the pump. (2) When the pump outlet pressure is higher than the operating pressure, gradually open the outlet valve to control the pump’s flow rate and pressure. (3) Check whether the motor current is within the rated value; if the pump is operating at its rated flow rate but the motor is overloaded, the pump should be stopped for inspection. (III) Precautions (1) Under no circumstances should a centrifugal pump be operated without liquid, to prevent damage to its components. (2) The hot oil pump must be preheated to avoid accidents caused by a large temperature difference between hot and cold. (3) After the centrifugal pump is started, it is not allowed to operate for a long time with the outlet valve closed. (4) Under normal conditions, centrifugal pumps should not be used with inlet valves to regulate flow in order to avoid cavitation; instead, outlet valves should be used for this purpose. (5) The minimum flow rate for operating the centrifugal pump is less than 1/3 of the rated flow rate. (6) For high-pressure centrifugal pumps with a large outlet pressure difference, a flow-limiting orifice plate corresponding to the rated flow rate should be installed on the outlet duct to prevent overload conditions.

Clean the pump body and the area around it. b. Check the inlet and outlet pipelines of the pump, to ensure that the valves, flanges, and pressure gauge connections meet the requirements; verify that the water supply pipes are unobstructed, and check that the anchor bolts and other components are not loose. c. Flush the vacuum pump by supplying water through the water supply pipeline, manually rotate the rotor, and then drain the wastewater through the drainage pipeline. For units that have been in trial operation or have been in regular service and are restarted after being shut down for more than 2 days, water should be supplied to rotate the rotor for flushing. d. Check whether the coupling guard is properly installed. e. After disassembling the motor for maintenance, check whether its rotation direction matches that of the vacuum pump. (2) To start up a, first slowly open the outlet valve slightly. b. Open the water supply valve to feed water into the pump; close the valve once liquid starts flowing out of the automatic drain valve. c. Open the vacuum pump inlet valve. c. When no water flows out from the automatic drain valve, start the motor and open the water supply valve at the same time; adjust the water supply valve so that the vacuum pressure gauge reads between (0–-0.003 Mpa).

Preparatory work before starting 1.1 Carefully check whether the inlet and outlet pipelines, valves, flanges, and pressure gauge connections of the pump are installed safely and in accordance with requirements, and whether the anchor bolts and other connection parts are tight. 1.2 Add lubricating oil to the bearing housing, with the oil level at two-thirds of the level indicated by the gauge in the bearing housing. 1.3 Rotate the pump by hand using the coupling to move the plunger back and forth for 1–2 full strokes; there should be no signs of jamming. Align the pump stroke zero position with the gauge zero position. 1.4 Open the root valve of the pressure gauge on the pump outlet pipeline, and check whether the pressure gauge is functioning properly. 1.5 Set the piston stroke to zero. 1.6 Check whether the liquid level in the tank is normal. 1.7 Verify that the safety valve is functional. 2 Starting the metering pump: 2.1 Open the pump inlet valve. 2.2 Open the pump outlet valve. 2.3 Press the start button to activate the pump and adjust the outlet pressure to meet the specified value. 2.4 Gradually increase the piston stroke to bring the pump flow to normal levels. 2.5 Check the seal, leaks, current, voltage, pump outlet pressure, and other conditions.
