Colleagues, we are soon going to carry out emergency repairs on a catalytic unit, and it is necessary to replace the liquid level gauge at the bottom of the distillation column. What precautions should be taken during this replacement process? Ensure safety
Isolate, slowly release pressure to remove residual fluid from the level gauge, replace with appropriate gaskets, install a new level gauge, make sure the gaskets are not compressed unevenly, and conduct a pressure test for leaks before putting it into use
Since you are replacing it during maintenance, all that’s needed is to clean the impurities inside the outlet pipe; the pressure test for leak detection can be carried out along with the system test. (Personal opinion)

Slowly release the pressure in the level gauge, remove impurities, replace the level gauge, and check whether the gaskets and flanges are damaged before replacement
First, relieve the pressure and drain all the material from the bottom of the tower. Set up scaffolding or a simple working platform, remove the existing level gauge; during removal, prevent any open flames from being generated (unless the distillation tower has been subjected to steaming). Clean the gaskets on the connection flanges as well as any impurities at the pipe openings, replace them with new gaskets, and install a new level gauge. The gasket must be placed in the correct position and pressed evenly; it cannot be pressed off-center. Perform a leak test before operation.
