Heat exchangers come in types with flow from top to bottom and from bottom to top; what is the difference between them? Is it related to the chemical properties of the medium?
Generally, hot media enters from the top and exits from the bottom, while cold media enters from the bottom and exits from the top. The uses of heat exchangers are mainly divided into the tube side and the shell side. Fluids that are typically handled in the tube side include: 1) unclean fluids, which are easy to clean; 2) fluids with low flow rates and low heat transfer coefficients; 3) corrosive fluids; 4) fluids at high or low temperatures
