If a fillet weld is considered as a right triangle, the height of the weld leg corresponds to the length of one of the right angles, while the thickness of the weld angle, also known as the height of the legs, corresponds to the length of the hypotenuse
Weld leg----------In the cross-section of a fillet weld, it is the minimum distance from the weld toe on one right-angled surface to the surface of the other right-angled surface. Fillet weld-----A weld that is created along the line where two perpendicular or nearly perpendicular parts meet. Face fillet weld ---- A fillet weld whose weld axis is perpendicular to the direction of stress in the welded parts. Convex fillet weld ---- A fillet weld whose surface is raised. Recessed fillet weld – a fillet weld whose surface is recessed.
