My company is working on a project plan that requires several ten thousand tons of fuming sulfuric acid per year, with the Fe content in the sulfuric acid to be less than 10 ppm. Is such sulfuric acid available? When building such a device, what should be taken into account to avoid excessively high iron content? Thanks!
It should be possible; we’re working on it.
It is estimated that the target will not be achieved at the beginning of operations, but it can generally be reached once production gets back on track.

Of course; standard sulfur-based acid production methods can keep iron ions at around 10 ppm, while the sulfur-based acid produced by our company can have iron ion levels controlled between 5-10 ppm. Our company is located in Shandong Jiayuan Dyes, with a sulfuric acid production capacity of 10wt/a. At the beginning of operation, it is best to first treat the equipment residues with oxalic acid, and then passivate them using concentrated sulfuric acid such as 98% acid, so as to ensure that the level of iron ions does not become too high. It would be even better if your device can accommodate PTFE.
