May I ask, in the case of a positive displacement metering pump, if the pipeline at the pump’s outlet is blocked, could the motor trip as a result? If it does trip, why would that happen???
The motor can trip when overloaded, but what’s more dangerous is that the components due to overpressure can get damaged, resulting in even greater harm.
How can it trip due to overload? Tripping is a circuit phenomenon, right? If the pump outlet is not unobstructed and pressure continues to rise, the safety valve will activate. If there is an external safety valve on the pump outlet pipeline, it will be the one to activate first, causing the fluid to flow back into the container or other equipment ； If there is no external safety valve, each metering pump is equipped with an internal safety valve that serves to protect the pump; it prevents the pressure in the pump from reaching a certain level, thereby preventing the transfer of the medium.
The motor will not stop due to pressure buildup in the pump outlet pipeline. If there is no safety valve installed at the pump outlet, the pipeline could burst as a result of rising pressure; however, if a safety valve is present at the pump outlet, it will activate to prevent this.
