Differences in drinking alcohol

This post was last edited by Lan Dian on 2010-8-18 at 09:26. We have been at Wai Shi* for a month now. The factory manager came to see us a couple of days ago; we all had dinner together. Since we’ve known each other for only a short time, and because we work in different shifts and don’t spend time together, we’re not very familiar with one another. The manager offered drinks to us – there were eight people in total. Two guys I know accepted the drinks, but the rest used various excuses to refuse. When the manager came to have a drink with us, suddenly everyone picked up their glasses. I’m speechless……
Hehe, the culture of drinking – it’s understandable
Maybe they really don’t drink alcohol; but when a leader comes around, it’s necessary to show some courtesy. Sometimes one needs to put themselves in their shoes – even if you don’t drink, can you really refuse to hold a glass when a leader arrives?

I agree with the opinion from the third floor; sometimes we need to put ourselves in others’ shoes. Don’t complain about friends or anything; that’s just how society is. Everyone should try to understand one another
It’s still better to drink less alcohol; this is China’s drinking culture
