As a result, there is a need to find ways to use up chlorine. Below are the products that consume chlorine, as per my research. In the EDC process, the markets for trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene are both profitable. Currently, both of these markets are in good condition; 90% of tetrachloroethylene is imported. The market for tetrachloroethylene is set to expand further in the future. There is also a new, state-of-the-art technology for producing benzyl chloride in China, with costs approximately 500 lower than those of existing manufacturers in Lianyungang and Tancheng, Shandong. This product is suitable for chlor-alkali companies looking to make use of chlorine effectively, and it is particularly appropriate for upgrading existing benzyl chloride production facilities.
