State-owned enterprises still place great importance on professional titles, as it is after all a system based on seniority. However, in state-owned enterprises, there is no connection between positions and capabilities. All those old guys in their forties and fifties are senior engineers, but how many of them passed exams? Almost all of them were appointed based on the decisions of their superiors. Those who leave reviews – aside from building connections – how much do they actually know about technology and business? If it’s not possible to obtain certain titles, there’s no need to be disappointed – instead, one should strive to get certified, as such certifications carry more value in foreign companies than intermediate or senior professional titles.

It can’t be generalized either. Professional titles also represent experience in a sense. When taking office, central leaders are required to disclose their educational background and professional titles; this represents society’s recognition of that person. Both you and I must strive to earn such recognition through our abilities. I wonder, what’s wrong with having a professional title? I keep striving for one myself. Registration certificates are generally issued by industry bodies, while professional titles at the intermediate level and above are issued by the People’s Government. Which one do you think is more authoritative? We also admit that registration certificates can help one earn more money; having them is certainly a bonus. I like it too.

Professional titles are still important; despite various issues, they are similar to your graduation certificate from school – you obtain different professional titles at different stages of your career. It is also an acknowledgment of an individual’s efforts.

In fact, it is very difficult to obtain a professional title above engineer level in state-owned enterprises. Professional titles are very important in state-owned enterprises; they are even used in the scoring for housing allocation. In our workshop of over 100 people, there is only 1 person who holds a position equivalent to an engineer or higher. For helpers, it’s all mistakes made while walking on the wrong path. It needs to be viewed correctly.
