Our company has recently analyzed the residual CO level in the copper melt, which is 0.15~0.22 mol/L (the normal range being 0.07~0.1). It is difficult to improve the purity of the copper; the regeneration pressure is 17~19 KPa, and the temperature is raised to 78~79°C. The CO content in the feed gas is 1.0~1.3%. Please analyze the reasons for this and suggest solutions.

A high regeneration pressure results in high residual CO, while a high regeneration temperature leads to low residual CO. This should be contradictory. This is because high pressure is unfavorable for CO desorption, whereas high temperature is favorable for it. If the residual CO level is high, the copper ratio should rise more rapidly. Therefore, the original poster’s question becomes more complicated; it is recommended that the poster check for other possible causes, such as whether the return tower is blocked or if the copper melt is taking an indirect path. Currently, in terms of operation, it is possible ; 1. The regenerated gas is temporarily vented to reduce the regeneration pressure and lower residual CO. 2. Appropriately reduce the regeneration temperature (74–76 degrees) to increase the copper ratio. 3. The amount of ammonia added to the system should be reduced appropriately.
