It’s not the case that the higher the yield of dry gas, the better; this is because a higher level of dry gas results in a lower yield of liquid oil. Moreover, the price of dry gas is very low too!

The dry gas yield is primarily a reference indicator for the degree of reaction; it is generally kept at 3%-4%. If this value is too high, it indicates excessive reaction, as part of the light oils is converted into dry gas and coke, and it is necessary to reduce the degree of reaction. Whether the dry gas is dry or not mainly depends on whether it contains a large amount of components with carbon numbers above 3; the main factor influencing this is the operation of stable absorption.
