Regular inspections of boilers include external and internal inspections, with different inspection intervals. The external inspection focuses on the three main accessories, while the internal inspection is carried out after the furnace is shut down and cooled, and involves checks of the steam drum, coils, water pressure, etc.
The regular inspection of boilers includes external inspection, internal inspection, and hydrostatic testing. Boilers in use are generally subject to an external inspection once a year, an internal inspection every two years, and a hydrostatic test every six years. The focus of the internal inspection is: 1. The areas that had defects in the previous inspection ; 2. The inner and outer surfaces of the pressure-bearing components of the boiler should be inspected for cracks, fissures, and corrosion, especially at areas such as openings, welds, and flanged joints ; 3. Check for wear and corrosion on the tube walls, especially those located in areas with high flue gas flow rates and within the cleaning zones of soot blowers ; 4. Check for cracks, fractures, and corrosion in the boiler’s struts as well as at the joints with the components they support ; 5. Whether the expansion joint is airtight, and whether there are ring-shaped cracks or caustic embrittlement in the expanded portion of the pipe end ; 6. Are there any dents, bends, bulges, or overheating in the compressed components? ; 7. Is there any corrosion at the junction between the boiler drum (shell) and the brick lining? ; 8. Has the pressure-bearing component or boiler frame experienced overheating due to damage to the brick walls or fire partitions? ; 9. Presence of scale and sludge on the water side of the pressure-bearing components ; 10. Check for corrosion or cracks at the joints of the water inlet pipes and drain pipes with the boiler drum (shell), as well as ensure that the connections between the drain valve and the drain pipe are secure. The key points of external inspection are: 1. Whether all necessary systems are in place in the boiler room, and whether the boiler operators and water quality testers hold the required certificates to work ; 2. Is the safety passage around the boiler unobstructed? Are there any signs of deformation or leakage in the pressure components, pipes, and valves inside the boiler room? ; 3. Are the safety accessories sensitive and reliable? Are there any blockages in the connections between the water level gauge, water meter, safety valve, pressure gauge, etc., and the boiler itself? ; 4. Whether the high and low water level alarm devices and low water level interlock protection devices operate sensitively and reliably ; 5. Whether the overpressure alarm and overpressure interlock protection devices operate sensitively and reliably ; 6. Are the ignition procedure and shutdown protection devices sensitive and reliable? ; 7. Is the auxiliary equipment of the boiler operating properly? ; 8. Is the boiler water treatment equipment operating properly, and do the water quality test results meet the standard requirements?
