This post was last edited by xyz20015 on 2010-8-24 at 16:25. Could some expert please help me? I’m a beginner in Pro/II and need to simulate a three-effect evaporation process. I have the feed conditions, the requirements for the final product, and the pressures in each effect, but the intermediate steps are not clear. As a beginner, I don’t know how to set many parameters (such as thermodynamic methods, algorithms, and the amount of product taken out from each tower, etc.). I’ve tried to figure it out on my own for a long time without success, so I hope everyone can help! Thanks first: http://d.namipan.com/d/00a906f8253a46257b7234a0bfa5a289278753c3e8220200 http://d.namipan.com/d/045c7899a931006767817465fde7f455eabe2c5b32e30000
No one to give guidance; I have to figure it out on my own. I’m anxious
It would be better if the original poster directly exported an inp file and posted it.
Reply to 3#: The inp file has been uploaded successfully, thank you
Oh, I didn’t understand the meaning. Let’s post the data for the first stage first. $ Generated by PRO/II Keyword Generation System $ Generated on: Tue Aug 24 16:05:49 2010 TITLE PRINT STREAM=ALL, RATE=WT, FRACTION=WT, PERCENT=WT DIMENSION SI, TEMP=C, WORK=KW, STDTEMP=0, STDPRES=101.325 SEQUENCE SIMSCI CALCULATION RVPBASIS=APIN, TVP=37.778 COMPONENT DATA LIBID 1,H2O/2,CAPLACTM, BANK=SIMSCI,PROCESS ASSAY CONVERSION=API94, CURVEFIT=CURRENT, KVRECONCILE=TAILS THERMODYNAMIC DATA METHOD SYSTEM=NRTL, SET=NRTL01, DEFAULT STREAM DATA PROPERTY STREAM=S1, TEMPERATURE=80, PRESSURE=110, PHASE=M, & RATE(WT)=15630, COMPOSITION(WT)=1,0.9/2,0.1 UNIT OPERATIONS PUMP UID=P1 FEED S1 PRODUCT M=S4 OPERATION PRESSURE=450 MIXER UID=M1 FEED S3,S4 PRODUCT M=S8 HX UID=E1 COLD FEED=S8, M=S5, DP=409 UTILITY STEAM, PSAT=80 CONFIGURE COUNTER OPER CTEMP=80 COLUMN UID=T1 PARAMETER TRAY=10,IO FEED S5,10 PRODUCT BTMS(WT)=S2, OVHD(WT)=S7,5000, SUPERSEDE=ON CONDENSER TYPE=PART DUTY 1,1,,CONDENSER PSPEC PTOP=40, DPCOLUMN=1 PRINT PROPTABLE=PART ESTIMATE MODEL=ELEC SPEC ID=COL1SPEC1, STREAM=S2,FRACTION(WT), COMP=1,WET, & VALUE=0.7 VARY DNAME=CONDENSER SPLITTER UID=SP1 FEED S2 PRODUCT M=S3, M=S6 OPERATION OPTION=FILL SPEC STREAM=S6, RATE(WT,KG/H),TOTAL,WET, VALUE=8000 END
Isn’t the original poster being a bit too modest? I ran the inp you posted once, and it passed on the first try; I didn’t find anything that was incorrect
Reply to 6# Okay, thank you so much:handshake. I might have made changes that make it seem to work fine, but there’s no traffic in S3 within the logistics data table – that can’t be right, right?
In this simulation process, regarding the bottom stream S2 and the final concentrated output S6, you have defined two variables: (1) for the bottom of the tower, the water content of stream S2 is set at 70%; (2) for the separator, the flow rate of S6 is set at 8 tons per hour. These two variables are contradictory to each other. That is: once variable (1) is set, the flow rate at S6 is determined based on the overall mass balance of materials entering and leaving. If a certain flow rate is desired for S3, the S3 flow rate can be adjusted in the separator settings

Reply to 8#: Thank you so much, I really appreciate your effort! Another question is, can I decide the amount for S3 myself? I tried several values and they all worked; there was no impact on the flow rate or composition of the product streams S6 and S7. Could it be that this quantity has no effect on the calculation process, and only the heat exchanger is affected?
That’s right, only that heat exchanger is affected
