To obtain high-quality coke, it is necessary to use more coal varieties with high cohesion and coking properties, which results in a lower volatility content in the blended coal and increased expansion pressure. Under such circumstances, it is very easy to encounter difficulties in pushing the coke out, and forced pushing may also have a negative impact on the furnace. This has also happened in our coking operations; for a period of time, to ensure the quality of coke, the pusher current was kept at a high level. Pay attention to the following points: 1) When blending coal, an appropriate amount of high-volatility coals such as gas coal should be included to adjust the pusher current. 2) The moisture content of the blending coal must be strictly controlled, at a slightly lower level. 3) The size of the compacted coal cakes should be reduced slightly to prevent excessive expansion pressure from causing damage to the furnace. 4) The heating regime of the coke oven should be adjusted appropriately, with the standard temperature increased by 10~15 degrees. Through the above measures, excessive pusher current and difficulties in pushing coke can be resolved.

Difficult pushing of coke is caused by various factors: flaws in the construction of the furnace, deformation of the furnace walls due to improper control of temperature and iron components during heating, poor temperature control during production leading to inadequate contraction of the coke cakes, and over-cooking of the coke cakes which results in them breaking apart and making it difficult to push them.
