I’m currently participating in a chemical engineering design competition, and I need to research information on the technologies and equipment used for oxygen production with molecular sieves. Since this is my first time dealing with this topic, there are many things I don’t understand; I hope everyone can offer me some guidance! The oxygen production capacity we have designed is 500,000 m3/h, with an oxygen purity of around 93%. After conducting research, it was found that many large-scale oxygen production systems do not provide information regarding their price or the investment costs involved. Currently, the companies that produce large-scale air separation oxygen generation equipment are Hangyang, Kaikong, and Chuan Kong; however, none of them mention whether molecular sieve adsorbents are used in their technologies. Although it was found that Beida Pioneer uses lithium molecular sieves, the maximum oxygen production capacity seems to be only 8000 m3/h. So I would like to ask everyone a few questions: What is the investment cost for an oxygen production plant with a capacity of 500,000 Nm3/h that uses molecular sieves for oxygen production? What are the equipment parameters and technical specifications? And which company should be chosen to supply the equipment – one that uses VPSA oxygen production technology or not?
Oxygen production using molecular sieves? Do you want oxygen production via pressure swing adsorption?
Judging from your description, it seems that you, the original poster, have no knowledge or understanding at all of the field of air separation oxygen production – how can you carry out such a design?
How much space does the machinery require? How many sets of equipment are needed?
Reply to 2#: 525h refers to pressure swing adsorption oxygen production, but it cannot achieve such a high output.
Well, since my knowledge in the field of chemical engineering is still limited, I’ve obtained all this information from literature. Moreover, my major is fine chemical engineering, and I have only just started to learn about air separation for oxygen production. My language skills are not very good; please forgive me!
For 50 cubic meters of oxygen production, cryogenic method is still the better choice. Pressure swing adsorption is very difficult to perform.
Pressure swing adsorption requires large investment and takes up a lot of space.
Reply to 1# Aikawa Ran: For such a high production volume, cryogenic methods are the best choice; pressure swing adsorption is highly inappropriate in this case as it results in high costs per unit, which is why it is generally not used
So, what would the investment cost be for adopting cryogenic technology?
Around 2E, I’m not sure about the specific individual devices.
