I graduated from a second-tier university with average grades; my English is not good, and my skills in C language are also average. After graduation, I worked in equipment maintenance for one year. I have had little exposure to central control DCS systems; I have seen PLC control systems, and worked with Siemens PLC+WinCC control systems in a company, as well as with the control system of a small company. During my free time, I spent half a year learning the MCGS configuration software from Kunlun Tongtai. Operating this software is not difficult, but programming scripts is a bit challenging – it doesn’t seem to be modular in nature. It was then that I began to learn about central control DCS systems. By chance, I learned that a company was implementing a central control DCS system, so I resigned. I have now switched to work at this company in Zhejiang, and it has been three months; I am still responsible for instrument maintenance. While working, I am also learning*. There are no major issues with the hardware side (this system doesn’t have many hardware components, and it doesn’t involve complex modules). I’m starting to learn programming in software now (although it’s not necessary to go too deep for instrument maintenance, it’s never a bad thing to learn it). Hehe, designing isn’t just about being good at programming; one first needs to be familiar with various standards and also have practical design experience – it’s not easy at all. The DCS configuration for control systems is relatively easy to understand, but to handle sequential control or complex control systems, knowledge of C language is necessary as it is used frequently.
If I can get involved in DCS configuration, I believe it will take at most 3 to 6 months. If participation in the configuration is not possible, it will take longer; starting from the point when you can directly work with this DCS, it will take about a year.
