What are the key points for starting a reciprocating compressor?
1. Once the indicator light indicating permission to drive is on, the shift leader shall confirm with the process operator the readiness of the unit; Confirm with the electrical and instrumentation personnel that the electro-instrument control system is ready for operation. 2. After receiving a clear reply, the team leader ordered the vehicle to move. The main unit starts when the operator presses the start button for the main motor. 3. Once the current stabilizes, conduct a thorough inspection of the circulating air compressor’s operation under no-load conditions. 4. After confirming that all moving parts are normal, slightly open the inlet valve to pressurize the machine, and check for any leaks in the unit as well as the vibration of the pipes. 5. Once the inlet pressure is equal to the system pressure, prepare to pressurize and supply air. 6. Contact the dispatch team and the control room to receive air supply instructions. 7. Gradually close the bypass valve for the circulating air to increase the compressor’s air delivery volume. When the pressure to be exported is equal to the system pressure, fully open the compressor outlet valve. 8. Contact the control room to decide whether to increase or decrease the circulation rate. The amount of addition or subtraction should be done gradually, and large fluctuations in the temperature of the synthesis tower are strictly prohibited. 9. Monitor the operation for 30 minutes, check the unit’s performance once again, and optimize various operating parameters of the unit. 10. Make corresponding records of various operating parameters of the unit on time. The compressor has returned to normal operation
1. Status confirmation: 1.1 Confirm that the compressor has completed its individual trial run. 1.2 Ensure that the machine body and its surroundings are clean, and that all connection bolts of the main units and auxiliary equipment are tightened. 1.3 Verify that the fire protection facilities are complete, and that all safety valves belonging to the unit have been calibrated and are in operation. 1.4 Verify that the lubricant test results are satisfactory and that the oil level in the engine’s crankcase is within normal limits. 1.5 Confirm that all electrical equipment has been powered on and that the self-protection system tests have passed. 1.6 Verify that the instruments connected to the DCS system are properly calibrated. 2 Compressor nitrogen purging 2.1 Open the valves at both ends of the inlet filter, open the nitrogen inlet valve, and pressurize the chamber to the pressure of the nitrogen supply. Close the nitrogen inlet valve. 2.2 Open the bottom drain valve of the outlet buffer tank to relieve pressure to 0.01 MPa(G), then close it. 2.3 Repeat the static nitrogen displacement three times. 2.4 Confirm that the backflow valve is closed, the pressure inside the machine is greater than zero (gauge pressure), and the nitrogen inlet valve is closed. 3 Preparations before starting the compressor 3.1 Activate the unit’s cooling system (1) Verify that the cooling system’s flow path is correct, and open the inlet and outlet valves for the cooling water in the oil cooler. (2) When driving in winter, it is necessary to start the crankcase electric heater and the oil system electric heating elements one hour in advance, or keep the heaters and heating elements active at all times. (3) Activate the inter-stage cooler and supply cylinder cooling water. (4) Verify that the cooling water system is unobstructed by checking the sight glasses in each cooling water pipeline. (5) Verify the circulating water flow rate, inlet pressure, and return water pressure. 3.2 Commissioning of the lubricating oil system: (1) Verify that the lubricating oil flow path is correct and that the oil level in the aircraft’s lubrication system is normal. (2) Confirm that the oil temperature is normally below 70°C, and that the oil heater is functioning properly (it starts when the lubricant temperature is below 10°C and stops when it is above 20°C). (3) Start the auxiliary oil pump. (4) Confirm that the lubricating oil pressure is greater than 0.8 MPa(G), the oil return at the lubricating oil point is normal, and the filter pressure difference is normal. 3.3 Unit barring (1) The unit is barred three times in the operating direction. (2) Confirm that it is uniform, flexible, and free of abnormal noises. (3) Connect to the main electrical power supply. 3.4 Introducing nitrogen into the compressor (1) – Install safety valves in all relevant locations. (2) Open the inlet and outlet valves. 4 Starting the compressor 4.1 Pre-start checks (1) Verify that the motor temperature is normal and the inlet pressure is normal. (2) Verify that the indications at various points on the compressor circuit DCS screen match those on site. (3) Consult the team leader and obtain approval. 4.2 Activate self-protection interlock (1): Confirm that there is no shutdown signal. (2) Press the interlock reset button. (3) Confirm that the startup conditions are met, the self-protection interlock is activated, and the startup conditions are satisfied. 4.3 Starting the compressor: (1) Request permission from the dispatch center and the substation and obtain the order to start it. (2) Fully open the outlet return inlet control valve and verify that the inlet pressures of each section are normal. (3) Press the start button of the main motor, verify that the no-load current is normal, and check that there are no abnormalities in all moving parts of the unit. (4) Verify that the intake and exhaust valves are functioning properly, that the compressor’s main oil pump is working correctly, and that the auxiliary oil pump is shut down (after the main oil pump has been running for 10 seconds); the oil pressure should also be normal. (5) Gradually close the outlet return inlet control valve. (6) Confirm that the current is normal under load, and there are no abnormalities in any of the operating parts of the unit. 4.4 Status confirmation: (1) Confirm that the inlet and outlet valves are fully open, that the compression ratios in each stage are normal, and that the exhaust pressure and exhaust temperature in each stage are normal. (2) Verify that the lubricating oil pressure and temperature are within the specified ranges, and that the bearing temperature and motor stator temperature are normal. (3) Confirm that the instruments and electrical systems are functioning properly. (4) Confirm that there are no leaks in the system and that the cooling water system is functioning properly.
